CrossFit Timer
CrossFit workouts change every day, so there’s no one fixed “CrossFit timing.” A WOD (workout of the day) might be an AMRAP, an EMOM, a for-time couplet, or straight interval rounds; the format depends entirely on the day’s programming. This crossfit timer covers one of the most common interval structures: 60 seconds of work, 30 seconds of rest, for 10 rounds.
Why 60:30
A minute of work gives you enough time to move through a few exercises or grind out a real set, while 30 seconds of rest is enough to reset your breathing without losing the intensity you built. It’s a solid default for interval-style metcons: alternating movements, or a single exercise where you’re chasing max reps each round.
Using it for a workout
Pick 1-3 movements and hit start. For a single-movement round, go for max reps or a set target each 60-second block, say 15 wall balls. For a couplet, alternate exercises by round: kettlebell swings on odd rounds, box jumps on even rounds. Rest is built in, so all you have to do is move when the numbers flip and stop when they don’t. If 10 rounds runs long for your session, open settings and trim the round count, or stretch the rest to 45-60 seconds for heavier movements.
If your workout isn’t this format
This timer runs fixed work-and-rest intervals, which doesn’t match every CrossFit format. Running an EMOM, where your rest is whatever’s left after your reps instead of a fixed 30 seconds? Use the EMOM timer instead; it’s set to continuous 60-second rounds with no scheduled rest. Running an AMRAP, where you’re working continuously for one long block with no rest phase at all? The AMRAP timer runs a single 20-minute clock built for exactly that.

Frequently asked questions
- What interval timing does CrossFit use?
- There's no single standard. CrossFit workouts (WODs) use everything from EMOMs to AMRAPs to straight sprints, and the timing changes daily. This preset runs a common 60-seconds-work, 30-seconds-rest interval that suits a lot of metcons, but it's one option, not the CrossFit format.
- Can I use this for AMRAP or EMOM workouts too?
- Not on this page. AMRAP and EMOM need a different timer structure, one continuous block versus earned rest, so they've got their own dedicated pages: the AMRAP timer and EMOM timer.
